Travel stories from around the world…

Japan, a foodies’ dream by Casey

I fell in love with Japan through food. Ramen, katsu, tempura, you name it and I’ve dreamed of it. It’s this connection with the cuisine that enchanted me to explore the rest of Japanese culture and history. Every miso soup came with a lesson about the Edo era, each nigiri a quick google search about shintoism, and every clean plate of udon a chance to learn about the bullet trains, war atrocities, and the spirit of the people.

When my wife and I first considered a honeymoon destination for after our wedding, we couldn’t think of any place better. She had fallen for the land of the rising sun near enough the same time as me. Her love came through vlogs, personal accounts and the real day-to-day life of Japanese people. However, what sealed the deal… was food.

If you’re lucky, dreams can come true, and if you’re luckier still, those dreams can be all you ever wanted them to be. For us, Japan was a dream that exceeded expectations, dazzling us with its beauty, simplicity, and chaos. While we have thousands of stories about our incredible trip, just know one thing, the food was unbelievably good.
